KVM Diamond Jubilee FAQ’s

Why are we celebrating for the school now?

This school started its operations in 1965. Initially it faced a lot of challenges, and it formally opened with students in 1966. It has been 60 years of glorious service to the society and nation. Since then, several batches of illustrious students have passed through the doors. This school has shaped their lives in several ways, imbibed the values, molded them, and made them successful. I think this is one way of celebrating that contribution to our lives.

What is the program on that day?

We will start the Diamond jubilee around 9 AM. The school will celebrate the annual day at the Chowdiah Memorial hall that we have hired for the entire day, from 9 AM till about 12 Noon. They will organize their cultural program. The Diamond jubilee celebration with the alumnus of the school will start around 1 PM with lunch and registration. This is the time to meet your old friends and catch up on each other’s life. We intend to start the formal program in the hall at around 3 PM. We have organized felicitation of retired teachers & admin staff of our school, dances and songs by our alumnus, a yakshagana performance, and we can tap our feet to popular music by a performers. The chief guest of the program is an eminent Sandalwood star and good fun to be around who will also regale us with his comedy. It will be an exciting day and I think all ex-students must participate in the event.

Why is it clubbed with the School’s annual day celebration?

We realized that the ex-students would come only in the afternoon. The school was also planning to have their Annual day and since we had booked the hall for the entire day, the organisers thought that it appropriate for the school to use the first half. In any case the neighbours around the school have started complaining about any such functions being conducted in the school premises due to the noise it may create.

What is the reason for conducting this at a different venue and not in the school?

The school runs in 2 shifts, and an event of this scale will hinder classes for atleast 3 days prior to the event and 2 days post the event since arrangements will need to start. During Golden Jubilee we faced these issues and we cannot afford to repeat that again. Additionally, the program will start in the morning and go on till around 9. It is bound to create a lot of noise with the big speakers, that will need to be used for the various activities. This is uncomfortable to residential people who live around the school. Besides several other challenges exist as well – parking for vehicles, food service, green room requirements for performers, and many other issues will have to be overcome proving to be a big task for the managing committee.

Chowdiah Memorial Hall is an air-conditioned venue, well equipped with a high-end audio system, lighting and comfortable seating capacity to hold 1000 guests. Green rooms and other desirable infrastructure to conduct a big event. This stage is also a matter of prestige for anyone who performs there which our school children and alumni will cherish for a long time to come if they perform here.

CMH is located close to the school, and it will be easy for everyone to reach comfortably.

The hall will be charging rental, how are you managing the finances and funding for the event?

Yes, they are charging us a fee for the day. It is better and cheaper than setting up the infrastructure in the school. We are reaching out to our ex-students, some of them have already donated individually or as a class group, and corporates for sponsorship. Sponsoring our event will give the sponsors a lot of visibility in terms of ad space in our souvenir, logo display at the venue for the day, announcements during the program. In fact, we have sponsorship tiers, and they will get the benefits based on the tiers. The alumni will need to buy entry tickets to enter the hall during the event that day as well. So, all these sources will help in paying all the vendors and for the other expenses like food, gifts, venue, performers and all others. We also want to take up some projects for the school. hence, if there’s any money left from the collections, we will donate to the trust who will take up the development projects for the school. I request all the alumnus of the school to come forward and donate as much as they can to make this event memorable.

You can scan the QR code below and buy the entry ticket by paying ₹1500 and or make a contribution of your choice as well. If you have passed out of the school after 2021, you only need to pay ₹750 per entry ticket. If you are not a life member yet, an additional charge of ₹600 for the life membership fee for those who passed out before 2020, but ₹100 for a temporary card valid for 5 years for students who have passed out after 2021.
